"Genuine communication in our own hideout" — Virtual Creator Chagaun Shares His Fan Care Story
"It's like our own little hideout."
"It feels different from fan forums or Twitter—like really visiting a friend's house. Both my fans and I can communicate so comfortably. And we can maintain appropriate boundaries while still respecting each other!"
The relationship between fans and creators is evolving. It's no longer just about exchanging content—it's becoming a companion-like relationship where both sides share daily life and emotions. Virtual creators especially create special bonds with fans through their unique appeal that bridges reality and virtual worlds.
Virtual streamer Chagaun, who's active on various platforms, understands and practices this depth of communication better than most. Rather than just focusing on streaming content, she chose Fancim M to create a comfortable space for conversations with fans, and she says she's grateful for every moment spent with them.
But here's what makes Chagaun's approach special: she's mastered the art of being close without crossing boundaries. While many creators struggle with the balance between intimacy and professionalism, she's found a way to create genuine connections while maintaining healthy respect.
Her secret lies in understanding that authentic relationships require both closeness and space. Through Fancim M, she's created what she calls a "hideout"—a private space where both creators and fans feel safe to be themselves while still respecting each other's boundaries.
For creators wondering how to build meaningful fan relationships without the drama or boundary issues that plague many communities, Chagaun's approach offers a masterclass in sustainable, authentic fan engagement.
Today, we'll explore her journey from music to streaming, her philosophy on creator-fan relationships, and how she uses Fancim M to create a space where everyone feels valued and respected.
"A journey that started with music, being completed together with fans"
Q: Could you introduce yourself?
Hello! I'm Chagaun, and I mainly stream singing, rap, talk shows, and various games on streaming platforms.

Q: What got you started in this field?
I was originally involved in music. Then I happened to see performances by virtual artists like APOKI and PLAVE, and I was genuinely shocked by those stages. I thought "Wow, there are such amazing stages like this," and I wanted to create content that could move people the same way. That's when I started considering streaming as a new path, and I gradually began.
Q: How was it when you actually started streaming?
At first I felt some pressure, but once I actually started streaming, it was way more fun than I expected. The act itself of talking, laughing, and chatting with fans through streaming became enjoyable, and I gradually developed affection for this activity. I thought "Ah, I found something I'm good at."
It's partly for vocal care, but also because I try various things that fans might enjoy, so I'm not focusing only on music like when I first started streaming. But I think I'm finding a good balance. Recently, I've been monitoring my own streams to better understand what I do well and what I still need to work on, and actually I have more things I want to try now, so it feels even more fun.
Q: What goals are you pursuing with your current streaming?
What I consider most important while streaming is being grateful that fans spend their precious "time they can use for themselves" during the day "to watch me."
Everyone gets tired after a day, right? On such evenings, they could hang out with friends, play games, go to karaoke, go drinking, or go eat something delicious... There are so many choices, but spending part of that precious time to watch me is really significant. So I naturally feel like "I want to give back."
More than anything complicated, I hope fans can feel happy during this time, and since that joy transfers to me too, I approach every day with the mindset of wanting to create streams where we're all happy together. I hope that feeling gets across.
"Fancim M: Close but respectful communication in our hideout"
Q: What made you start using Fancim M?
I tried Twitter and fan forums too, but they felt like records were being kept and had a somewhat formal, public feeling. In contrast, Fancim M has a more ephemeral and much lighter feel, so I could easily say casual things like "Did you sleep well?" or "The weather's nice today~."
Q: What are the unique advantages of Fancim M?
Above all, the biggest thing is that it's our own space. Inside Fancim M, I don't have to worry about other people's gazes or external exposure—it feels like a hideout where I can just talk about my stories with fans, which really excites me.
Like "Let's hang out here among ourselves!" and they send lots of voice messages, or we end up talking about completely useless things and having fun, so it feels like being at a friend's house. I like that aspect.
Q: How do you mainly communicate on Fancim M?
I get along very closely with my fans, but no matter how close we become, I think a certain distance is absolutely necessary. Without distance, disappointment can arise.
If we become too comfortable with each other, we might start taking things that should be appreciated for granted, or fans might feel like they have to do everything the creator wants just because they're fans. Since fans are people who spend really precious time to come watch my streams, I think appropriate distance is necessary for healthier relationships.
I use Fancim M's "public sharing" feature well in this regard. I do use "reply" when necessary, but I generally don't do one-on-one replies much. The reason is simple: if I only respond to specific fans, it might feel like discrimination to other fans.
For example, if I casually reply to someone and that fan posts somewhere saying "Our boss replied to me!" other people might feel sad thinking "I've never received one..." So I always try to communicate in a way that everyone can see together on Fancim M.
Fans can't see other people's chats, but when I pick out things I think would be interesting and make them public, conversations continue between fans too. This part is fun, and it seems like a useful way for everyone to communicate healthily while having fun.

Q: Do you have any favorite features on Fancim M?
I personally really love the chat room decoration feature. It's fun to decorate the space in my own style, and fans really love that kind of thing too.

"When you put your heart into it, that becomes fan care"
Q: What do you consider most important in fan care?
Actually, I don't have specific fan care methods like "I must take care of this." What I consider important is showing fans my "authentic self" whether I'm streaming or not. I want to approach them with that attitude in any situation, and I hope they see me as that kind of person.
I usually share my values and personal beliefs with fans often. Not in a "you should live this way too" manner at all. I just genuinely want everyone to be happy beyond streaming. So I often share stories like "This made me happy" with fans.
In those conversations, when fans share their worries, I tell them about my own methods or experiences of how I overcame similar things. I've been consistently having those sincere communications.
Maybe that's why fans often tell me "I really like not just the broadcast character, but the person behind the screen." I think this is my charm, and I'm determined to continue streaming with sincere communication going forward. I believe that's the best fan care I can provide.
"A concert with fans—a dream I definitely want to achieve"
Q: Do you have any goals you want to achieve as a creator in 2025?
One of the goals I want to achieve in 2025 is holding an online concert. I've been thinking about it for a while, but back then I only thought about it vaguely. It didn't feel like something I could do alone.
But recently I attended several concerts by artists like Yonezu Kenshi, YOASOBI, and Ado within a few months, and they were really amazing. The concerts themselves were enjoyable, but seeing the stage composition, direction, and atmosphere made me think "It doesn't have to be extremely elaborate."
For example, like I do in my regular streams, I could compose backgrounds and outfits for each song, naturally mix between songs to maintain the atmosphere, sing about 10 songs with some talk in between—if I organize it well like that, I think I could create a wonderful concert.
So now I'm thinking about holding an online concert sometime this year. Even if it's not perfect, my goal is to share a wonderful stage with fans in whatever way I can do now.
