Q: What got you started with streaming?
I've always been really into gaming. At first, I was making strategy guides by myself and posting them on my blog, and fans who were reading them suggested I try live streaming. After I got back from military service, my blog activity had died down, so I thought "why not try live streaming?" and that's basically continued to this day.
I started streaming on live streaming platforms initially. I had this goal of making the internet broadcasting scene a bit more mainstream, so rather than provocative content, I focus on family friendly and entertaining streams.

Exactly. I thought if there were too many people it would be hard to manage, so initially I only promoted it during live streams, saying "I'll announce streams through Fancim M." But as I kept using it, fans were curious and chatty at first, but eventually it settled into more of a news-receiving direction. That seemed manageable, so I promoted Fancim M once on YouTube, and the people who joined then have mostly stuck around.
Just sharing my daily life in really light ways makes fans super happy. So I share stuff whenever it comes to mind.
Q: When do your fans react the most positively?
They definitely love it most when I post photos.
For example, when it's snowing a lot like recently, I'll take a picture of the scenery outside and post it, and fans will say "It's snowing where I am too!" and we bond over that shared experience.
Or I have pets—a dog and cat—and when I post pictures of them sleeping, fans absolutely love it. Sometimes when I'm feeling really down or depressed, I'll mention that and everyone comes together to comfort me.
Q: Is there a difference between conversations during live streams versus on Fancim M?
Live streams are real-time, right? Things happen so fast that sometimes I'll think "Why did I say that?" and regret it. With Fancim M, I can think more about what I write, so there's the advantage of being able to be more thoughtful.

My tip is actually to minimize subscriber communication channels. I think showing your streamer side only on the platforms where you're active is the way to have longevity and keep viewers satisfied. I don't do Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media at all. Honestly, I think being an influencer becomes more dangerous the more you reveal. I’m careful to not accidentally self dox myself. Since YouTube is my main channel, I share important news that I absolutely need to communicate through YouTube Community, and I share more spontaneous, lighter updates more frequently through Fancim M.

I'm planning to step back from gaming a bit and try something new—travel vlogs. Right now, basically my entire daily life happens inside this soundproof booth, so the lack of change is bringing on some depression. I thought "this can't continue," so I built a camper van. My goal is to grow my new travel vlog channel enough to get YouTube monetization.

Honestly, I'm half excited, half worried. But I think it'll be meaningful even if it doesn't go well. Just the travel itself will let me and my wife create precious memories, and those experiences will give me more fun stories to share during streams.
