“Communication and trust is key” How LAO used routines for maximum fan engagement
“Day in, day out… that’s all that matters”
Unlike live streamers, audio content creators don't have many opportunities to engage with their audience directly. However, the understanding that content creation goes beyond the actual media posted on platforms is starting to spread throughout the creator community. As audio content slowly becomes part of everyday life for audiences, creators are facing a new challenge: "How can I communicate effectively with my listeners?”
Existing channels like comment sections can sometimes act as barriers since the speed of communication is often slow and impersonal. In this post, we'll dive deeper into how LAO overcame this major challenge by building consistent routines outside of creating content.
"Every day, I realize there are fans who come home eager to listen to my content.”
As an experienced content creator with over two years in the industry, LAO initially tried to tackle communication inefficiencies with Discord servers and group chats. However, when the volume of messages quickly overwhelmed him, he discovered Fancim M.
"I just feel empty if I don't check in with my fans every day." How did LAO build his thriving community through the effective routines he's established for fan communication? We sat down with him to hear the advice he had to share.
“I want my content to help my fans relax at the end of their day”
Q: LAO, let's start with a quick introduction.
I'm LAO, a voice content creator. I mainly produce audio dramas and ASMR content. Rather than live streaming, I focus on recording content, and I handle most of my fan communication through Fancim M.

Q: What got you started as an audio content creator?
I originally wanted to be a voice actor. I was preparing for auditions and taking freelance recording gigs, staying active in that world. Eventually, I started wanting to create my own content more independently. Then this platform reached out to me first with an opportunity, so after a few months of thinking it over, I decided to go for it seriously.
Q: How do you handle creative burnout when you're stuck for content ideas?
Running out of material definitely happens all the time. But when that hits, I try new approaches or look for inspiration in different places.
My content is geared toward adult audiences, and I usually create series-style content. So instead of trying to reinvent the wheel completely, I focus on keeping my existing style while adding unique elements.
For example, I emphasize the acting side by using different characters, or I'll do multiple character roles in one piece to set myself apart.
Q: What's kept you going consistently for two and a half years?
At first, it was just a promise I made to myself. Keeping that commitment to myself as a creator was the biggest thing. Second was the responsibility I felt knowing my fans were waiting for my content. I usually upload between 11 PM and midnight, and there are people who use my work to wind down their day.
If I got lazy and skipped an upload, it could mess up the routine that my fans have maintained for two and a half years. That thought keeps me uploading consistently.
"I wanted to find a space where I could communicate naturally with my fans"
Q: Why did you choose Fancim M over other communication platforms?
I started by trying to connect with fans through KakaoTalk group chats. Then I set up a Discord server and even considered running something like a Naver fan cafe. But each platform had its own drawbacks. Then I got an email from Fancim M and decided to try out their service.
The biggest reason I chose Fancim M is that it allows for much closer communication with fans. In regular group chats, when lots of people are talking at once, my announcements easily get buried, and fans can miss my messages. But with Fancim M, individual messages are stored separately, so fans can definitely see what I'm sharing.
Also, while fans see it as 1:1 chat, I can view all the messages at once, which makes communication way more efficient. For example, if someone asks "What did you have for lunch today?" I can answer that question for all the fans who might be curious about the same thing. Or I can reply to specific messages, which keeps natural conversations flowing.
Plus, with regular KakaoTalk group chats, I had to restrict chatting to keep announcements from getting lost. With Fancim M, even when I post announcements, they stay visible, so I don't have to worry about that.
All these features help fans feel more connected, and it's much more comfortable for me to communicate too. That's why I went with Fancim M.
Q: What's the best thing about using Fancim M?
The biggest advantage of Fancim M is that you can check all the conversation history. Unlike regular chat rooms, new fans can see all the previous conversations, so they can naturally catch up on the flow through the accumulated dialogue. Some people who are curious about past conversations actually read through everything from the beginning. I think this system is incredibly useful.
I especially like that you can make communication into a routine. I log into Fancim M once a day to check messages from fans and share something from my day. When you do this consistently, fans naturally start accepting communication with me as part of their daily routine.

And by checking messages from fans once a day, I can easily see what conversations happened, pick out questions that everyone might be curious about, and answer them publicly to keep the communication going. I feel like fans really appreciate it when I share just one TMI (Too Much Information) tidbit per day.
When this routine stays consistent, the bond with fans naturally deepens, and it creates a structure where communication continues. My goal is to make sure this routine doesn't break.
Q: How have your fans reacted to Fancim M?
In my case, I like sharing my daily life with fans at least once a day, so they seem to appreciate that aspect. Since fans can freely react and talk about the messages they receive directly, all my fans seem to love it.
I make sure to send birthday cards to everyone on their birthday without fail. This seems really meaningful to fans too. Birthdays might just pass by normally, but since Fancim M shows birthday notifications, I can celebrate with everyone consistently.

It's like how KakaoTalk shows "It's someone's birthday today." Since creators don't usually remember individual fans' birthdays personally, fans seem really satisfied with this kind of attention.
Fancim M provides a space where I can give fans various experiences, and I feel closer to my fans too. I become more interested in each individual fan and find myself looking at their usernames more carefully. Fans seem to feel more connected to me, and their loyalty gets stronger. I think that's why everyone's so happy with it.
"Fans remember when creators show they care—the importance of fan care"
Q: When using Fancim M for fan care, is there anything you pay special attention to?
The most important thing is naturally showing fans that you're paying attention to them. Fans can immediately tell whether a creator is actively trying to communicate in that space. So I try to log into Fancim M at least once a day to check what fans are talking about.
When you have a few thousand fans, it might be hard to take care of everyone individually, but with around 200 people, I think it's totally doable. Even if I only take care of one person per day, dividing that across 365 days isn't really burdensome, and spending 5-10 minutes sending a birthday message means a lot to fans.

Since it's not common for creators to personally remember individual fans' birthdays, fans are extremely satisfied, and I feel rewarded through the communication too. Eventually, it develops into a relationship where fans and creators are giving to each other.
Q: Do you ever get stressed from communicating with fans?
Fancim M looks like 1:1 communication, but it's actually one-way communication. Fans can send me messages, but I only have to reply to the messages I want to. So I don't have to worry about negative messages or unnecessary conversations, and I can focus more on people who support me.
It's less burdensome because it's not forced 1:1 conversation like regular DMs or KakaoTalk. In public communities, negative people can affect other fans too, but with Fancim M, their messages aren't visible to others, so it doesn't bother me much.
So I actually try to pay more attention to fans who communicate positively. And if any fan loses interest, they can naturally leave, and I don't force anyone to stay. People who want to communicate keep participating, and those who don't can freely leave. From this perspective, I think Fancim M is a great platform where you can maintain consistent communication with less stress.
Q: Do you have any goals you want to achieve in 2025?
My goal is to keep maintaining consistency. Every year, the most important thing I tell myself is "don't change." I've been repeating the process of creating content, recording, and uploading every day. Ultimately, I believe that if you do anything consistently, results will follow.
When people starting out as creators or YouTubers ask me how they can grow as creators, I'm all about doing it every day—whatever it is. If you do something consistently for 365 days a year, you'll inevitably grow in some form. That's why my biggest goal for 2025 is to maintain the approach I've been using and stick to my daily routine!
